Workshops & Staged Readings

Here at TSW Productions, we love working with independent theatre companies to uplift and promote new work. If you are or you know an aspiring writer who would love to have their work read or staged, one of our Workshop & Readings programs may work for you!

TSW Productions also knows the value of community engagement, especially for independent theatres. Our programs are completely customizable to focus on what YOU want to focus on.

  • Available virtually or in person, TSW Productions will lead a table reading of the script. This will allow the cast to become familiar with the material before the reading. We can also allow time after the reading for discussion and questions with the writer, if present.

  • TSW Productions can host as few or as many rehearsals as desired. Our programs are built with one rehearsal but extras can be added as desired.

    Actors do not have to be off-book for a staged reading so repetitive rehearsals are not necessary for memorization. Rehearsals will be used for spacing and blocking.

  • Staged readings are a great way to invite the community into your theatre to view new work. Bonus points if it’s written by someone within their community!

    At their core, staged readings do not require actors to be off-book and do not require any sets or props. Basic pieces such as chairs or mics might be helpful but are not necessary. TSW Productions can direct a staged reading that’s as simple and cost-effective or as elaborate as desired.

  • Feedback is one of the most important parts of a writer’s career. TSW Productions can lead either a private workshop (virtually or in-person) or public post-show talkback, dependent on the writer’s desires.

Program Bundles

Programs are invoiced hourly and required hours will heavily depend on the length of script. Example prices are rough estimations.

If none of these programs suit your needs, we can build you custom program that is exactly what you’re looking for. Extra rehearsals or reads, workshops before the reading, multiple readings, anything is possible!

Backstage Workshop

For those who just want to hear their work read and have the chance to receive live feedback and discussion.

  • Table Read (virtual or in-person) (approximately 2.5 hours)
  • Curated Workshop (one hour)

  • Table Read (virtual or in-person) (approximately 2.5 hours)

Full House Staged Reading

For those who are ready to show their work to the world.

  • Table Read (virtual or in-person) (approximately 2.5 hours)
  • Spacing Rehearsal (one hour)
  • Staged Reading (approximately 2 hours)
  • Curated Workshop or Talkback, including audience members (one hour)

Breaking the Third Wall Staged Reading

For those who want to show their work to the world and also receive feedback and have interaction with the audience.

What are the fees associated with the programs?

TSW Productions charges a flat rate of €35 + VAT per hour with a minimum of three hours. All parts of the program are invoiced together as one sum.

Not included in the fee is any space or equipment rental, stipend for actors/crew, or scenic or prop design. The theatre must provide and pay those costs.

What do we need to provide?

TSW Productions only brings the workshop structure and the direction/leadership.

The only required needs are a script, actors, and a space. Ideally, there will be one actor per role + an extra to read stage directions.

Our program does not require the use of tech, sets, or props but can be used if desired.

The theatre or client will need to provide and pay for the space, actors, and any desired tech, props, scenic design, etc.

What should we expect by booking a staged reading or workshop?

TSW Productions will coordinate the timing and organization of readings, rehearsals, and workshops in accordance with the theatre. We will also direct the reading and lead workshops or talkbacks with the ability to work closely with the writer in order to help bring their vision to life as desired by both writer and theatre.

  • TSW Productions is based out of Groningen, Netherlands. Table reads and private workshops can be done virtually and anywhere in the world but staged readings cannot be done virtually. We can travel for an additional charge, which would be quoted prior to booking and based on location.

  • Yes! All services we offer can be booked independently of each other or together.

  • TSW Productions has a unique combination of experience in theatrical production, writing, and feedback. Our goal is to uplift new writers and create programs that highlight community engagement.

    If there are still no scripts you wish to work with, TSW Productions will attempt to find one.

  • TSW Productions intends to make the process easy on both the writer and theatre. We want to collaborate on the entire process to make sure all parties involved are getting out of our program what they want.
